Ted the Titan Arum

There's a cool rare flower on campus at UCD called a Titan Arum, at the Botanical Conservatory.  It's common name is Corpse Flower because of the smell it lets off as it blooms.  It only blooms one time every two years, and the past couple years we've been out of town, but this year we've got Cora, so we're around.  Here are a bunch of photos.

Some IR Photos

I took the recently renovated near-IR camera to Willits for the weekend and got some nice shots in between rain showers.  We helped celebrate my pop's retirement, but also relaxed lots and went for a few adventures.

 Shot inside a pizza oven.

Honey Bee on a bright orange california poppy.

 Oak Trees on a ridge.

 More different oak trees.

The Adams family. His party shirt was shockingly bright in visible light. The colors come through ever so slightly because the filter I'm using isn't a proper visible light cut-off.  Her sweatshirt was a bright royal blue, but reads as white in the nearIR.  Cool stuff!

Pop's Retirement Soiree and BBQ

We were in Willits to help celebrate my dad's retirement on Monday, 6/6/2011.  Here are a few photos:

Sooooooooooo many of my middle and high school teachers in attendance!

Tearing into some parting gifts.  Classic presentation of the weekday clock, since you can't remember what day it is once you've retired, apparently.
